Martin Beaulieu was born in Edmundston, N.B., in 1948. At age 5, his parents moved to an English-speaking village where he began school knowing not one word of English. As an adult he worked at several jobs, from labourer to farmer to janitor to dishwasher in a lumber camp to bookkeeper, and so on. At age 48, he moved to Virginia to work as a programmer on the Y2K problem. Subsequently, he moved to Maine to work for a telephone company, where he soon forgot everything he ever knew about programming. He currently lives in New Brunswick. Harley’s Intergalactic Moveable Restaurant is his fifth novel.
