I have been writing for more than 30 years. My books revolve around Christian and Biblical themes. My stories are Fiction cross-genre which include: Action & Adventure, Alternate history, Crime, Drama, Fantasy, Historical fiction, Mystery, Satire, Science fiction and Thriller, with a focus on spirituality.
Born in San Francisco, California, on May 21, 1954, I have lived almost my entire life in the San Francisco Bay Area. When the orchard farm in Santa Clara Valley was replaced with housing tracts in 1956, my father, mother, older brother, and I moved to Cupertino where I lived and went to school.
At the age of 9, my mother divorced my alcoholic father. After a couple of years, my mother remarried and our family moved again to Santa Clara, California. I attended Emil R. Buchser High School from 1968 to 1971. However, I was not able to continue my studies due to my arrest. I was detained at the James Boys Ranch in Morgan Hill, California. There, I finished high school and received my diploma.
After graduating from the James Boys Ranch, I entered the U.S. Army. I have chosen the best service training and became a truck driver. From Fort Ord, I went to Korea for my first tour of duty. Unfortunately, my drug habit resulted in a couple of arrests. One was by the commanding general of the U.S. Eighth Army.
I decided to face two court-martials instead of applying for a discharge under Army Regulation 635-200, a discharge for the good of the service. With less than a year of service, my AR 635-200 request was granted and I was discharged from the Army.
Returning to the States in late 1973, I promptly resumed my drug use. In a few months, I was arrested for committing grand theft auto and was sentenced to prison. I got released from jail two months later. Within months of my release, I was strung out on heroin.
During the next few years, I continued to use heroin when my heroin connection was arrested for armed robbery. The connection was coerced into setting up his customers. Picking up two sales of narcotics in the late 1970’s, I made a deal to go into the Veterans Administration Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Program in Menlo Park, California.
Leaving without permission after three days, I was on the run for the next seven years using a variety of phony birth certificates and Social Security numbers to work at odd jobs to support my heroin habit.
In the mid-1980’s, I was arrested on minor drug-related charges and the new computer technology returned my fingerprint identification before I was released under my current alias. Held without bail, I went to court on a variety of charges under half-dozen assumed identities. Serving a year in the county jail under my real name, I was released and promptly got strung out on heroin until my next arrest.
While I was in jail in 1987 for explosives charges, Jesus Christ came into my life and there, I was born again. I began to turn my will and life over to God, but my depraved nature and self-centeredness made me fight tooth and nail.
Finally on August 26, 1993, I received an answer to my prayers and I was cleansed from my drug & alcohol addiction. From that day to the present I haven’t used heroin, any other illegal drugs, drank any alcohol or smoked a cigarette. However, the fight against my flesh and my sin nature was not over.
During my last prison term of six years, I decided to become the writer I’ve always wanted to be. But I needed direction, good direction. One night while listening to the popular AM Radio Talk Show, Coast-To-Coast, I heard an interview with an author. The talk show host asked, “What do writers do?” And the author replied, “Writers write.” Then and there I took his answer to heart and began writing five days a week, and I completed six books, and am working on the seventh.
